Hair transplantation is the procedure in which your own hairs of back side of head are taken out with live roots & implanted into the hair loss (Bald) area of scalp so that it gives more natural hairs on head. Hair transplantation is done in patients who has total baldness & don’t respond to other treatments of hair loss. But for hair transplantation good number of hairs are required in donor area (back area of head) from which hairs are to be taken out. There are 2 methods of hair transplantation stripe method & FUE method. In this FUE (follicular unit extraction) is more commonly done because it is minimally invasive method. First we prepare donor area (back area of head) from which we have to take hairs for transplantation. Area is trimmed up to 1-2 mm length. Then area is cleaned properly & local anesthesia is given. After that one by one follicular unit containing 2-3 hairs are extracted by specially made micro motor with attached 0.7-0.8 mm punch & stored in cold saline. Then the bald area is cleaned & after giving local anesthesia one by one hair unit (grafts) are implanted into bald area to cover whole area. No dressing is required on grafted area. Very fine holes will remain on donor area which usually heals in 5-7 days.
